Q: What's the big deal between SS400 and ASTM A36 steel plate?

A: They're pretty much the same and can usually be swapped. SS400 is a JIS thing with a tensile range (400-510 MPa), and ASTM A36 has a minimum yield strength of 250 MPa. The chemicals are a bit different, but they're both just your regular structural carbon steels.

Q: Can you galvanize SS400 plates?

A: Yep, SS400 is good for galvanizing because of its surface and what it's made of. We can get that done for you with our partners if you need it.
